John Geiser Award
John Geiser, Jr., a long time member of the Slidell Photography Club was a painter and decorator, a traveler of the world in search of beautiful camellia bushes. He was an accredited judge of the American Camellia Society and traveled throughout the south judging shows. He had traveled to all 50 states and more than 65 foreign countries.
In 1999, in honor of John Geiser, the Slidell Photography Club started photography competitions to be held annually among members at the request of his nephew, Paul Muehlmann. The themes of flowers and travel alternate yearly.
The first Geiser award was won by Judy Little in 2000.
